I am a native San Diegan. Born in La Mesa and raised in Alpine. I graduated from UCSD with a Bachelor's in Philosophy. Later I attended California Western School of Law where I earned my JD and was admitted to the California bar in 1996.
I have always been involved in my community. I was a member of the Alpine Planning Group, a Board member of the Alpine Community Center where I headed the Teen Task Force.
I moved to La Mesa and was a member of the Lemon Avenue PTA, La Mesa Adult Enrichment Center's Pet Therapy program, was on the Boards of The East County YMCA and East County Boy's and Girls Clubs, and volunteered as a tutor in remedial reading at Rosa Parks Elementary.
When a gas station and mini mart were proposed in residential zone within walking distance from my home, I got involved in La Mesa with Save our Corner and with a group of dedicated residents we stopped the project. That experience showed me that you can fight City Hall and win! I was then appointed to the City of La Mesa Planning Commission and served 12 years before being elected to the La Mesa City Council in 2012. I left the Council a few years ago, but have maintained my community involvement, helping fellow residents stop electronic billboards from blighting our City. I am also a member of the Board of the La Mesa History Center.
I have one daughter and pet cats whom I love.
